React is one of the most popular libraries out there for building user interfaces. Created by Facebook and used everywhere from Netflix to han Academy, React’s component-based architecture offers developers a great system iKn which to build modern single-page applications. React also has a thriving ecosystem of developers both using it and building supplementary tools that you can pull into your own projects. React isn’t limited to the web either – many companies also use it for their mobile applications.

    Prerequisites

-Some knowledge of Javascript, HTML, CSS required

-Knowledge of ES6 Syntax and the ability to use NPM to install packages on your machine.

    Design

Starting on the July 22nd meeting, we will spend a few moments at the beginning for introduction, updates, progress etc. Then we will dive into this video series:

    https://egghead.io/courses/start-using-react-to-build-web-applications

It has several 2-5 minute videos, each of which explores the basic features and concepts of React. It is well suited for beginners, but will likely teach intermediate users a few new tricks. We’ll see how far we get until there is about an hour remaining, then we’ll move on to exercises.

The exercises exercises found in these training materials:

    https://github.com/ReactTraining/react-workshop

    This week and subsequent meetups

To prepare, watch the first video in the egghead.io tutorial in which the instructor will walk you through setting up your environment. Have your environment set up as per his instructions. Also, clone/copy the files from the react-workshop repo. Have a look at the syllabus.md file to see what order the ‘subjects’ are covered in the subjects folder. In each subject folder there are lectures and exercises to try. We’ll individually do the first one, ‘Rendering with React’, and work as a group to make sure everyone can get it done.

    - What is Co-learning? -

Co-Learning are cooperative learning sessions in a work environment where participants are following advanced facilitators and a self-paced online curriculum.

Unlike individual learning, people engaged in co-learning capitalize on one another's resources and skills (asking one another for information, evaluating one another's ideas, monitoring one another’s work, etc.) More specifically, co-learning is based on the model that knowledge can be created within a population where members actively interact by sharing experiences and take on complementary roles.
