SECOND CHORUS

"Second Chorus" is a 1940 film starring Fred Astaire, Paulette Goddard and Artie Shaw (as himself). The story is about the pretty and competent band manager Ellen, hired by Artie Shaw's band, and the college band leaders,  trying to get into his orchestra as well, after Ellen leaves their band to work for Shaw. It's an adorable comedy, with several dance scenes, but most importantly, imbued with irresistible sounds of the big band and charming style of the 1940s.

ARTIE SHAW

Artie Shaw (born May 23, 1910)  was widely regarded as "one of jazz's finest clarinetists", and led onf of the most pupuar big bands in the 1930-1940s. He had numerous hit records, but you might recognise his tune "Sweet Sue", played in the 1940 film "Second Chorus", "Moonglow", "Stardust", "Back Bay Shuffle", "Whispering" and many others that still make the dancers jump for joy today. He was an innovator in the big band music idiom, and a multi-talented person, that gave us the music we're still enjoying almost 100 years later!

He hand picked the best musicians to form a band that can recreate the vibes of the 1940s, swing sound and dance tunes. For this special night only, he invited a special guest from USA to join them on stage of Modernista.

Noah Hocker 职业小号手出生在美国波特兰，费城Temple大学爵士表演专业研究生，师从美国著名爵士音乐家小号手Terrell Stafford。毕业后搬到纽约工作生活。目前长期固定合作的Swing大乐队有Gordon Webster乐队，Michael Gamble和他的节奏小夜曲乐队，Jonathan Stout乐队和Hot Sardines爵士乐队。近期他推出了他自己创作的第一张现代爵士专辑 “Common Thread”。Noah Hocker是一位多才多艺且全面发展的音乐人。无论走到哪里都深受欢迎。
