Our E2P (Event to Prototype) public innovation workshops are designed to help us collectively generate ideas that can be prototyped for market testing.

This event will be focused on a very traditional product which is the work-horse of Chinese economy for the last several decades - Sunlunche (Tricycle).

We will explore challenges and opportunities associated with Sunlunche in the big city like Shanghai and how are smarter version can address those challenges and make the city more efficient and livable for everyone.

The four specific design challenges we will look at include:

l Design Smart Tricycles that enable Rural Food selling experience in urban cities like Shanghai that meet the core issue of health, traffic, and income tax.

l Design Smart tricycles so they enhance the recycling efforts of Shanghai’s Smart City Vision.

l Design Tricycles so they make the delivery of food and packages more safe and efficient than two wheel electric bikes crawling the sidewalks

l Design Smart Tricycles so they enable micro-entrepreneurship opportunities for aging migrant construction workers( too old to do heavy construction jobs and no other source of income…they built Shanghai and Shanghai owes them something?)

Dr. Hugh Rashid is a practitioner-scholar with over 25 years of experience working and consulting with global organizations in the US, Europe and Asia on product innovation and digital transformation of business processes.

Currently he is focused on helping traditional product manufacturers build smart products that create superior user experiences of their traditional products using digital transformation technologies such as digital sensors, electronic hardware, cloud platforms, big data and artificial intelligence software.
