Love Is Not Abusive: An Open Forum on Domestic Violence
Date/time: December 12, 2019, 7:00-9:00pm
Location: Lincoln Hall, U.S. Consulate Guangzhou
Join us on December 12th for an open forum exploring the ways families in the United States and abroad maintain positive and supportive home environments and family relationships. We will define what it means to have a healthy home free of abuse and discuss how culture as well as power dynamics in spousal, parental, and sibling relationships can influence one's living environment. We will discuss trends regarding perceptions of – and support for – men and women experiencing domestic violence, and the work that still remains to be done to support healthy relationships. We encourage attendees to share their thoughts and questions regarding this important topic, as this will be an open dialogue rather than a traditional lecture. All are welcome to attend as we support one another and raise awareness about the “silent epidemic” of domestic abuse.
