Introduction to PostgreSQL for programmers

This workshop is ideal for developers who interact with databases and build schema in their daily work and who want to know more about PostgreSQL.

Those developers used to other RDBMS (like MySQL) should be particularly interested.

AGENDA

- We will learn how to use three special types of PostgreSQL

-JSON

-Array

-UUID

- We will check how to use some basic PostgreSQL only features

-Inheritance

-Type constraint

-Trigger

-Procedure creation

-Plpgsql the PostgreSQL procedural language

We will create our own database schema based on StackOverflow.

REQUIREMENTS

 1. A laptop

 2. Programmers who have knowledge of SQL Database.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Sylvain is a software engineer, graduated from The University of Edinburgh with an MSc Informatics. I studied software development, database design, machine learning (more specifically neural networks, genetic algorithms, regression analysis), information retrieval and formal methods.

My topic of interests are:

* Database design,

* API Design,

* Scalable, fault-tolerant systems.

* Data Science,

* Machine Learning.
