Join us for a lively and informative discussion on the
challenges and opportunities that face youth in Beijing. This event
does not hope to generalise but more to better understand
millenials coming of ages as China comes into
power.
Our presenters will touch upon the range of different ideals that young Chinese people aspire towards, the context in which the 1990s generation have grown up in and present future pathways for young people wanting to establish themselves in this fast-changing environment.
Speakers
Alec Ash: a writer, journalist in Beijing, author of Wish Lanterns-Young Lives in New China. A book that follows the lives of 6 Chinese youth born between 1985-1990 from their childhood to their coming of age. Contributor to the Economist, Prospect, BBC, he is also the Founder of The Anthill a colony of Beijing writers.
Wen Li: Lived,worked in SE Asia, China, Europe and the US. Bridging the gap between Western and Chinese technology business. To empower the youth of today, she is the Founder of Woman Entrepreneurs, an organisation designed to nurture the future business leaders of China.
The speakers will be joined on the panel by:
Christian Lepolard: Business Director at HAYS China-the world's recruiting experts, supervising their. He joined HAYS China in January 2016, after relocating from Russia where he spent 12 years. He has more than 11 years in the recruitment industry,among them almost 10 in mid to senior recruitment and 1.5 in executive search. During his career Christian worked on many assignments, with a strong focus on sales and marketing roles across all sectors, logistics positions and senior roles.Besides his native French, he speaks fluent English, German and Russian and intermediate Italian. Christian has unparalleled knowledge on building your CV for the competitive job market.
Andy Zhang: born in the US, raised in a number
of countries and multilingual. He graduated from the University of
California- Berkeley before dabbling in entrepreneurship in Seoul.
as well as providing HR support to Fortune 500 firms in HK/Greater
China. Andy is currently the owner of Campus PM, which connects
schools and enterprises, while he is also a China-based leader of
the Harvard-Berkeley Global Startup Fund, which is an alumni effort
that helps support youth entrepreneurial education, hence his deep
expertise with second-tier cities across the region even as an
expat.
