The effects of our changing climate will affect the quality of life on earth, particularly in our major cities. There are two strategies to face this challenge: prevention and adaptation. Urban regions represent a vital prerequisite for sustainable economic development and at the same time need to be prepared to cope with climate change. Shanghai and Berlin are among the metropoles that – out of necessity and capability – lead the way to a more sustainable future.
