Synopsis: After marrying a successful Parisian writer known commonly as “Willy” (Dominic West), Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Keira Knightley) is transplanted from her childhood home in rural France to the intellectual and artistic splendor of Paris. Soon after, Willy convinces Colette to ghostwrite for him. She pens a semi-autobiographical novel about a witty and brazen country girl named Claudine, sparking a bestseller and a cultural sensation. After its success, Colette and Willy become the talk of Paris and their adventures inspire additional Claudine novels. Colette's fight over creative ownership defies gender roles and drives her to overcome societal constraints, revolutionizing literature, fashion and sexual expression.

​关于我们 ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

前身为中国女性电影节的BATURU文化节将于今年10月18日-10月27日在北京举行第七次展映。每年，文化节都会涵盖全球女性面临的重大问题，同时也为那些取得成就的女性而庆贺。尽管目前许多电影尚不能完全真实地折射观众们的现实生活，我们希望类似BATURU文化节这样的电影展能够在探索女性故事方面起到引领作用，推动我们的社会向性别平等的方向更进一步。

The BATURU Cultural Festival, formerly known as The China Women’s Film Festival, is coming back to Beijing for its 7th edition this autumn between October 18th – 27th. Each year the festival covers a number of issues that women disproportionately face around the world. In light of these challenges, the festival also aims to celebrate the achievements of women. We hope that film screenings in festivals such as the BATURU Cultural Festival will take the lead in exploring women’s stories, bringing society that one step closer to achieving gender equality.
